'Digital Sunlight' is one of my first Arduino experiments. This ‘digital painting’ exists out of a wooden casing with a cut design in the cover. During daylight it functions as a wall decoration with a dark striped design but as soon as the sun sets it can transform into a beautiful ambient light source.
The casing is made out of different layers of laser cut wood. The cover is held in place by magnets that are embedded in the edge of the casing. Therefore it is easy to remove the cover and replace it with a new print. In the near future I will create several cover designs that could be used.
The hart of this digital painting exists out of some LED strips, Arduino UNO board, and an Adafruit CC33000 Wifi breakout board. With the corresponding mobile app it is possible to change the light color.
Thanks to FabLab Bergen op Zoom for using their laser cutter. Now we have to wait for some solid wireless power to get rid of that ugly power cable…
